Re -vamp Your space!

Interior design

Some things come naturally to certain people: baking, drawing, decorating a room… For the rest of us, it takes an education. When my mum decorated her first apartment,  she informed me that she knew what she wanted but had trouble bringing that vision to life. I guess you could say she was overwhelmed. The daunting task of pulling together a space that wasn’t just a bedroom in a fully furnished house, must have seemed like an impossible chore. As with all things, it would take practice, a few moves, and some divine (design) inspiration to finally feel comfortable decorating my home. Whether your space is simply a room or an entire house, there are a few things that I consider a MUST about interior design to help you conquer your design demons…

#1: Personalise your space. Your home (or room) should reflect who you are. If someone was to walk into your home, they should know that it’s yours. The best way to achieve this is by including accessories that reveal both your hobbies and interests. What’s important is that you distance yourself from what the stores are telling you to buy. Often, at times we are drawn to ideas that are trendy or pre-done: “Of course this white lacquered elephant statue would look great in my bedroom!” But is that really you? Maybe not. Instead, aim for pieces that compliment your personal clothing style. You may be surprised to discover that styling an outfit isn’t too different from decorating a room. So take a look in your closet. What colours are you drawn to? Do you prefer mod or modern? Clean cuts or lacy ruffles? Use your taste in clothing as a style guide for your home—it’s an easy way to ensure your space is 100% you.

#2: Work with your surroundings. It’s important to understand your design limitations. Be familiar with the size and scale of the room. Also, consider your environment and respond to it. Whether you’re in the city or the countryside, it helps to take a cue from your surroundings. In turn, you can narrow down your choices based on the context of your space.

#3: Keep comfort in mind. Have you ever purchased a piece of furniture simply because it was pretty, only to discover that it’s painfully uncomfortable (or useless)? I don’t know about you, but I am definitely guilty of this offense. Nevertheless, the silver lining of this mistake is that I learned an important lesson: comfort is key. When I think of “home sweet home,” the first word that comes to mind is cozy. Making your home comfy and cozy is a must. Nothing is worse than going to a friend’s house and awkwardly balancing on their post-modern chair. Your space should be inviting and comfortable.

#4: Stick with the classics. There’s a reason classic is, well, classic. Incorporating pieces that have withstood the test of time gives you the freedom to translate them as your design style evolves. Using classic furniture, prints, and fabrics provides you with a basic foundation to build on with trendy or personalised accessories and finishes. Let’s say you find a gorgeous antique credenza or a traditional armchair. You love the shape and feel of the piece, but the finish or fabric is all wrong. In this situation, I say: invest! There are plenty of ways to transform an older, classic shaped piece of furniture. If it’s a sofa: reupholster, add throw pillows… An aged dresser: paint it! The possibilities are endless when it comes to updating a timeless piece.

#5 Less is more. Keep it simple. You don’t want to overcrowd your space. If you edit the items in each room, the area will appear to be cleaner and even bigger. Just remember, you can always add more as Chanel said and I think I am wise to trust her ;)

I hope you find my tips helpful the next time you find yourself face-to-face with an interior design project.

What space of yours could you re-vamp this New Year?

3 Ways to Make 'Him' Fall For You

It's our dirty little secret

When you want to get a guy’s attention, it’s natural to pull out all the stops. You act sweeter, dress sexier, and are more accommodating all with the hope that he’ll fall madly in love with you.

Did you know this is actually the WORST way to get a man to feel romantic about you? He may be thankful that you make the dinner reservations, buy him gifts, or even do his laundry, but this behaviour can also come off as smothering. Next thing you realise you’ve landed in the Friend Zone, a dark pit of frustration from which there is no escape.

Here are some tips to inspire his romantic side instead:

1. Don’t Give More Than You Receive

Turn the dial down on your showering of affection. A man is actually turned off when he gets more from you than he gives. All of that attention and gift giving makes him think of you as a friend or even a mother (creepy!) instead of a romantic interest.
2. Don’t Be Exclusive Unless He Is Too

Define. The. Relationship. If you aren’t his one and only then don’t make him yours. Keep your options open. This way, you keep your class, your power, your boundaries, and he has to work to get you!

3. Don’t Plan Dates

This is not your responsibility even if you think that if you don’t you will never go anywhere nice have faith that your guy will come around and do the right, and romantic, thing. A woman who can respect a man enough to not try to “pick up the slack” for him is the woman he falls in love with.

Deals & Steals: Conquering the Year- End Sales

Deals & Steals: Conquering the Year-End Sales

When it comes to shopping the pre and after-Christmas sales, there are a few things you ought to know before you go… Here’s the smart girls guide a la Lauren Conrad, to shopping the year-end sales:
  1. Know this. The purpose of year-end clearance sales is to get rid of the old and make room for the new. Many of the items are either overstock, returns or display pieces. The best value is overstock since returns and display items might not be in the best condition. However, if something is overstock, keep in mind that the store is most likely clearing it out to make way for its newer counterpart.
  2. What’s trending? Since stores are making room for the next season’s goodies, be aware of what trends will carry over into the next season. If something is particularly trendy, you may want to think twice before buying it. The more classic, the better!
  3. Check it. And test it. Since a majority of clearance items are overstock or returned products that have been sitting out for a long time, be sure to give things a thorough once-over before purchasing. If you find something you love and notice a snag or a missing belt, negotiate a lower price if it’s the only item of that kind left. More often than not, stores are happy to get rid of the merchandise even if it means selling it for an even greater discounted rate.
What are your favourite year-end sales to shop?

Style Knowhow: The Trench Coat

Surprisingly Versatile: 1 Trench Coat, 5 Chic Ways to Wear It

Trench coats: they're cool and classic and lend a polished vibe to your look — no matter what you happen to be wearing underneath. The sleek silhouette calls to mind fashion icons like Jackie O., Katharine Hepburn, or Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca (who can forget her trench coat flapping in the breeze?).
We've seen lots of cool spins on the timeless trench this season, from Burberry's leather sleeves and acid-bright hues to Diane von Furstenberg's cropped, nylon iterations — and the best thing about the style is that it comes in multiseasonal fabrications and colours, making it an appropriate choice for any occasion.

I have taken one definitively classic Burberry London Marystow Gabardine Trench (£1,095) and styled it five different ways — for work, play, and everything in between. Read on to shop each look now...

For work...
This look is perfect for work — skinny black jeans and a chambray shirt will look totally tailored when paired with red pointy-toe pumps and a showstopping necklace.
WORKBurberry London Marystow Gabardine Trench Coat ($1,095), Jessica Simpson Collection Decadent Statement Necklace ($145), All Saints Verne Ashby Jeans ($110), Levi's Made & Crafted Sundown Chambray Shirt ($220), Dolce Vita Bella Heels ($169)

For the weekend...

Great for work or the weekend, this sophisticated jeans-and-blouse look is a winner, whether you're in the city or country. It gives a slight nod to the '70s, without being costumey.
2Burberry London Marystow Gabardine Trench Coat ($1,095), Tucker Printed Silk Shirt ($285), Foley + Corinna Chain-Strap Attache ($250), Steve Madden Maarkee Wedge Booties ($150), Textile Elizabeth & James Jimi Mid-Rise Flared Jeans ($195)

For laidback days...
Don't think for a second that you can't wear a trench coat with your weekend-chic boyfriend jeans and trainers. Not only will it instantly elevate your look, but it looks a lot more polished than a hoodie.
CasualBurberry London Marystow Gabardine Trench Coat ($1,095), Current/Elliott The Boyfriend Corduroy Jeans ($165), Rachel Rachel Roy Adinah Sneaker ($80), Zoe Karssen Sworn to Fun Loyal to None Jersey T ($95), Mango Animal Print Scarf ($55)

For a first date...

We love this look for a snowy first date; start with a cozy belted sweater dress, layer up with thick tights and a Winter-y hat, and slip into a pair of funky, sky-high ankle booties. It's sweet and sexy, without being overly bundled up.
First DateA.P.C. Belted Wool and Cashmere Sweater Dress ($385), Topshop Fur Pom Pom Knitted Hat ($28), Burberry London Marystow Gabardine Trench Coat ($1,095), Loeffler Randall Serena Platform Bootie ($425)

For evening...
This sweet, romantic ensemble is great for a night of drinks and dancing — and you can also add a faux fur stole to really luxe up the look.

Do or Don't: Tights with Open Toed Shoes?

Do or Don't: Tights with Open Toed Shoes?

Personally, I love wearing tights with open toed heels. It’s a simple way to wear your favorite spring and summer pieces during colder seasons. How economical, right?

My favorite tight + toe-baring shoe combo is black tights with black heels. The black on black tricks the eye and makes your legs look a mile long.

However, I'm still not 100% whether the trend, which is said to be featured on ALL of the Fashion Capital's catwalk next year, will recieve great press?!

I guess only time can tell, but I've stocked up on two pairs of tights (one aubergine coloured and the other teal) just in case the trend looms into a phenominon, right?

What do you think about tights worn with open toed shoes? Do or don’t?

Think Fast: The Perfect 'Ooops your birthday's tonight?!' Gift

Candles

So you forgot to check your Facebook reminders or just completely blanked on picking up a gift for your friend’s birthday party… that’s tonight! We’ve all been there. Being caught unprepared without a fallback gift can leave you feeling flustered. To avoid said situations, I suggest stocking up on some quality candles. By having a classy candle stash, you will always be prepared for eleventh hour “I need a gift!” moments.

The way I see it—a luxurious scented candle is great gift. It’s the type of thing most people don’t splurge on for themselves, but love to have in their homes.

I like candles by Diptyque, Jo Malone, Fresh, and Illume.

For those of you that prefer to be over-prepared, try pre-wrapping the candles before stowing them away for later last-minute use. Label each box with a sticky note indicating the brand and scent. This will help you get out the door faster and personalise the candle based on the recipient and occasion!

What are your last minute gift tips?

BUON NATALE: The Aftermath

Merry Christmas to all my gorgeous bloggers! I hope that each and every one of you had a phenominal holiday with lots of pressie opening and time with the family!!!

As the big day has now already been and gone, I just thought that it would be a cute idea to blog a few pictures of what sort of pressies I got!?
I loved all of my amazingly generous presents however these are just a few of my favourites:

Thanks Santa......

1. A gorgeous bottle of 'Jimmy Choo's' Eau De Parfum.
The house of Jimmy Choo seemed to present its first self-titled fragrance announced as “a dazzling aura of glittering femininity". It is a modern floral - fruity composition with deep woody base. Its opening bursts with vibrant freshness of ginger, pear and green accords. Exotic tiger orchid, which forms the heart of the original, is blended with tea rose to create a seductive floral aura. The base is woody, but unlike the debut it does not contain patchouli, it contains cedar and vibrant woods. Therefore the fragrance exudes connatations which could be suggested to be dedicated to strong women full of confidence, who are also fun and playful.

2. A boyfriend styled Fossil Watch from the newest 'Stella Collection'.
It is truely the perfect-sized watch with just the right amount of shine. Meet Stella in classic faux tortoise, glittering crystal accents and a round multifunction dial....I shall be wearing this in a number of up and coming New Year's Events and is a perfect piece of  va va voom to enter into 2012 with!

3. An exquisite Longchamp Le Plaige Brown Tote Bag.
With worldwide success, even though it may be on the pricey side of £62, Le Pliage by Longchamp is the daily companion of millions of women and men. Folded up, it knows how to make itself almost disappear. To create a total look, one will be able to coordinate their bag with their ballerina flats or tongs!

4. Dannii Minogue: My Style
This really is a must-have style bible if there ever was one as it helps one to learn to love the way one is, focusing on ways to accentuate the positive, and covers everything from great hair and glowing skin to make-up and healthy eating. Dannii shares her tips on red carpet looks and what to wear for every occasion, and offers advice on dressing for your shape and choosing the right accessories. Furthermore, it is an inspirational guide to making the most of what one has and looking one's best.

5.  A pair of Seude Tan Ankle Boots from New Look.
With the use of such a neutral pallet these boots will be a perfect addition to my wardrobe, finishing a classic and crisp warm New Years outfit.

6. A Bobbi Brown Neutral Lip pallet gloss.
With its gorgeous watermellon coloured base, this is by far the best lip gloss which I have come across in a longtime which is why I was so excited to discover this present for myself on Christmas day!

Lip Gloss

7.  A Shamballa Bracelet.
This is an absolutely gorgeous piece of wrist candy, smothered with Sworovski crystals, making it suitable for special occassions or adding an element of glam or femininity to an outfit.

So those items were just an insight to the stocking I opened on Christmas Day!

Shoe Lovers: Discover Your Style

Whilst browsing the internet and one of my trusty galls blog's, Whitney Port, I came across an almost surreal website! Stylist Pick.

Stylist Pick is a web page which is pretty much summed up in it's title. After taking a quick quiz on one's fashion habbits and preferences, almost within a blink of an eye, one's very own profile is transformed before its eyes which each month will get a visiting from a stylist. Thereby meaning that 10 pairs of shoes will be added to one's 'shoe profile' after responding to the preferences of that particular person.
This would suggest that not only can one now relax in the comfort of their own home whilst shoe shopping, preventing them having to deal with the unanimous crowds and occasional 'I saw them first' scraps, as one does not even need to accounter looking for them! Simply click to 'view profile' and viola...take your pick!
Another plus point is that they are just guidance, meaning that one does not even need to purchase them if she does not wish to! Perfect.
But there's more....with stylists such as Louise Roe (from the American MTV hit series 'The City' and the new British series 'Plain Jane'), Grace Woodward (a judge from the one and only Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model show plus stylist of the X Factor in 2010) and Arabella Greenhill (Marie Claire's chic senior fashion editor), one is sure to be in good hands! Furthermore....it's free delivery AND returns!

Moreover, with Cheryl Cole's approval of the phenomenom, she has launched her very own range, specifically for Stylist Pick!

Here are some of my favourites from her inspiring collection:

How To Wear: The Maxi

Yes you guessed it all my gorgeous bloggers, it's yet another 'How To Wear' post dedicated especially to you during this festively fashionable season, however this week 'The Maxi' is exuding the limelight!
So drop your hemlines, ladies! Floor grazing maxi skirts and dresses are having a moment right now. They have always been a style staple for me.  They are comfortable, easy, incredibly flattering, and down-to-earth (literally). Plus, the style is versatile and perfect for transitioning your musk autumn wardrobe into those winter days. What’s not to like? That’s why I was pleased to see designer labels such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, Missoni, and J. Crew feature fresh takes on the trend in their autumn runway shows.

While black maxis are favoured by many designers, many other colours will work a treat too such as aubergine, burgandy, mocha and even a festive firery red!? So why not go all out this season?? One could also pair it with an irrisistable fur jacket, a great accompaniment with the current Faux Fur Fashion trend out now! For more ideas with the Faux Fur Bonboozlement check out one of my best and dear friend's 'Kitty's Bible' 's according post: My (Faux) Fur Lady .

While maxis are certainly experiencing a renaissance, if you will, up until the 21st century women had few options aside from this ankle skimming length. Even though we might see the floor length trend as “new,” the fact is the maxi has always had a place in women’s wardrobes. (I suppose this is where I must state the obvious: Fashion always recycles itself.)

When worn correctly, maxi skirts and dresses are as flattering as they are fashionable. However, playing with proportion can be tricky. With longer lengths, it’s all about balance. To avoid being a fashion victim, follow these tips for maxi-friendly dressing…
  1. The sky’s the limit. No matter your height (yes, I am talking to you, petite ladies) you can wear floor length dresses and skirts. That’s why they invented heels!
  2. It’s a balancing act. Keep the scale of the skirt in mind. Floor length skirts look lovely with tighter fitting tops (tucked in and/or belted at the natural waist). If the skirt is cut closer to the body, opt for a looser fitting top. Cropped jackets and sweaters also work well with floor length dresses and skirts. One of my favorite casual outfits is a simple maxi dress paired with a cropped denim jacket.
  3. Be bold! Fashion is all about taking risks, I’ve seen girls style their maxi skirts with slouchy sweaters, tied denim shirts, and simple tucked-in tees for an effortlessly unfussy yet chic look and hey, it works too!
How will you be wearing the maxi skirt this season?

A Sincere Edible Sweet Tooth Apology!

Okay bloggers, I am sincerely very sorry for not blogging for two whole days!!! (shame on me). However, in my defense, I have had such a busy weekend.... meaning that it was reasourceful, moreover for blogging material!!!! ;-) yes?!
So here's my sincere edible sweet tooth appology to you all, hope you like them!

Sweet Tooth: Sparkly Lemon Cookies
Earlier this month I was thumbing through my auntie's copy of Martha Stewart Living Magazine when I found this little gem of a recipe: Sparkly Lemon Cookies. While I was already sold on the lemon factor, the glittery sprinkles sealed the deal! Thankfully, the folks over at Martha Stewart were kind enough to share the recipe for these festive holiday treats.

Whether you’re in need of a last minute gift or hoping to bake something sweet for the holidays, these are the must-bake cookies of the season. Plus, they are as tasty as they are cute. Pretty tough to resist, right?

Here’s how to make them…

Makes 40 cookies

Star-shaped edible glitter (Miachals.com) is an optional embellishment for these lemon cookies. The topping really makes them sparkle, but you could also use coarse sanding sugar or simply leave the cookies glazed.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Salt
  • 1 stick plus 2 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 lemons, zested and juiced (1/3 cup juice)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 2 ¾ cups confectioners’ sugar
  • Start-shaped edible glitter or coarse sanding sugar, for sprinkling (optional)
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 325-degrees. Whisk together flour and ¼ teaspoon salt in a small bowl.
  2. Beat butter, granulated sugar, and lemon zest with a mixer on medium speed until pale and fluffy, about 10 minutes.
  3. Beat in eggs. Reduce speed to low, and gradually beat in flour mixture.
  4. Slowly add milk, and beat on medium speed for 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer dough to a pastry bag fitted with a ½- inch plain round trip.
  6. Pipe 1 ½- inch rounds onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
  7. Bake until bottoms are pale gold, 16 to 18 minutes.
  8. Let cool completely on sheets set on wire racks.
  9. Whisk together confectionsers' sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl until smooth.
  10. Brush glaze onto cookies, and sprinkle with edible glitter.
Note: Cookies can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.

What’s your favourite holiday cookie recipe?

Kiss and Make Up

Beauty Note: Kiss & Makeup
When it comes to lips this season, the fall 2011 runways were a bit two-faced. While many designers such as Missoni, Gucci and Diane von Furstenberg lead the pack with bold bordeaux lips, others including Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney countered with contrasting pouts in shades of nude. Beauty Note: Kiss & MakeupRed lips also made an appearance on the runways at Jil Sander, Miu Miu and Ralph Lauren. Needless to say, the fashion frontrunner is definitely Missoni’s rich merlot, plum tinged lip [and my personal favourite] !

While bold is beautiful, it is also intimidating. The best way to take your lips to the dark side is by keeping the rest of your makeup understated. I prefer bold lipstick for evening outings. Burgundy pouts are particularly ideal for girls’ nights. I can assure you, vampy red pouts are not exactly date friendly. Need I say totalman-repeller? And no girl wants to see her man sporting a Missoni kisser either… Anyway, I love to wear a deep red lip with winged eyeliner. It’s a classic look that’s perfectly glamorous and appropriate for nighttime.

To get the “it lip” of the season, try the lipstick Missoni models donned during the fall runway show: MAC lipstick in Media. Apply the lipstick with extra care and attention.... And voila—rich, sultry, fashion-forward lips are yours in a snap.

Are you going to give this bold beauty look a try?

FabSugar: How to Wear the Prettiest Winter Combo

Slip Dresses

Fall and Winter dressing brings about some serious conundrums: as much as you want to stay cute and stylish, you still need to focus on beating the chill. It's about combining fashion and function, so I've come up with a chic, feminine way to look pretty, put-together, and fabulously cozy at the same time. So say hello to your new Winter staples: a slinky slip dress and chunky knit sweater, perfect for pairing with a hat, boots, and a giant mug of hot cocoa. The look was shown on the Fall runways at Rachel Comey Altuzarra, and Alexander Wang, and calls to mind a sleek vintage-inspired vibe. Ready to slip into something sexy? Browse through the five ways to wear slip dresses and cozy sweaters this season!

For evening...
Wear your slip and sweater combo out for evening by adding a pair of strappy colourblock sandals. This racerback frock has the perfect amount of subtle sex appeal.

This look can easily be worn to the office, and you can up the warmth factor in a snap by adding a pair of thick knit tights and a snood. Get a pop of colour with a bright saddle bag.

That Thursday Thing: Bake your dream man!

Holiday Special: Bake Your Dream Man

We all know a good man is hard to come by. So what’s a girl to do when she’s left solo under the mistletoe? Many of us turn to one of two things: cats or chocolate. But I say no—not this year! Instead, let’s try a new fallback…like gingerbread!

Making your dream (gingerbread) man is simple. Mix up the ingredients, bake him for an hour at 350-degrees…and voila—he’s yours! Dress him in your favorite frosted attire (he can’t say no) or go ahead and eat him right up (literally) under the mistletoe. If all else fails, at least you can break his legs. It’s like gingerbread voodoo… But don’t feel too bad. He deserves it for all those unnecessary calories!

Better yet? Bake a dozen or so and invite your girlfriends over for a drink and design night… I promise, it’s sure to be a good time!

What are the stats of your dream guy?

Crimbo-created Chaussures!

Pretty Heels

It is Tuesday and you are back at your desk, counting down the days to the Christmas eve and the arrival of the Santy Claus.
This year, unlike many years in the past, you did much of your shopping in the week immediately after the Halloween celebration, choosing to do most of your gift-getting on the line, thus avoiding the many hassles of the in-person shopping at the mall.
Frankly, although you appreciate the convenience, the ease of the modern shopping (browse, point, click, enter the information of the card of credit) actually seems to take some of the joyousness and meaning out of the season. Finding the exactly right gift for each person on your list is not supposed to be so easy!

But, then, through the magic of Google, you learn that the secondary market ......And besides, it easier!
Such are the problems of prosperity, that we now worry that our lives have become too easy to be meaningful.
But don’t worry! Christmas is coming!
Look! Beautiful and elegant in these D’Orsay heels…

WOWOWOWOWOW!

So why am I doing a 'shog'? (shoe blog)

.........Well firstly: to tell you all about how shoes make an outfit and should be experimented with in heaps for this season!

Why else? Well have you ever heard the saying...'A women is but her feet's content'.

BANG BOOM POW!

Tis the season for bangs, and verbally communicating what you want can be tough to make up artists when out and about or getting ready for a specific event… “You know, like heavy but not too heavy, but like in my eyes, but not too much, but like whispy and blunt.” I don't know about you, but I say that a lot. And while I’ve learned to translate my language, I still feel it’s always best to bring 1 or 2 pictures of the bangs you like and a picture of the bangs you don’t like. It makes communicating MUCH easier and could save you from annoying grow out period. Here is an example of one of the most extravigant and conniving bangs by yours truely, Alexa Chung!

What other bangs could you produce?!

Pick a colour!

The winter holls are offically looming so I thought why not get up to scratch with whats hot and whats not with regards to my tantelising nails buds......
So I thought it would be fun to share my five favorite nail polish shades for this upcoming season.

Dark Red – You can’t go wrong with a classic red nail.  Try going for a darker hue this Winter.
Nude – For Spring and Summer I wore nudes with a pink base, but for Winter I am opting for nudes with a grey hue.
Metallics – Silver, rose gold, glitter… I love them all! Metallic polishes are a fun way to dress up any manicure.
Karky Green – Be all you can be… With a military-inspired manicure.
Mauve – I couldn’t be more in love with this colour.  So romantic, but still modern!

I hope to see some pics of your festive favourable nail beds!

Edible Obsessions: Pumpkin Pie Bites

Edible Obsessions: Pumpkin Pie Bites

If I had to pick one flavour to describe winter it would undoubtedly be pumpkin. Pumpkin pie to be exact. When I came across this recipe for "Pumped Up Pumpkin Pie Bites" I couldn’t resist. Not only is it a great alternative to traditional pumpkin pie, but I’m also a sucker for bite-size treats. These little nibbles are relatively healthy compared to regular pie. Just 94 calories for two bites. Not bad for dessert, right?
Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think!

'Pumpkin Pie Bites'

Makes 32 bites

Note: When making the crust for this recipe, it might, at first, look like the crumbs won’t cover the bottom of the pan, but trust me, they will! The easiest way to distribute them evenly is to use a small piece of parchment paper, and gently press the cereal mixture until you get a nice even layer.

Ingredients
  • Butter-flavored cooking spray
  • 3/4 cups all-natural, whole-grain, crunchy, high-fiber, low-sugar cereal (I used Kashi 7 Whole Grain Nuggets)
  • 2 tablespoons 100% pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 large egg whites
  • 15-ounce can (1-¾ cups) solid pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup agave nectar
  • 2 tablespoons whole-wheat pastry flour
  • 2-½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1-¼ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 32 teaspoons whipped topping, divided (optional)
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 11” x 7” glass or ceramic baking dish with spray.
  2. Add the cereal to the bowl of a food processor fitted with a chopping blade. Process it for 15-20 seconds, or until the cereal is crushed. Transfer it to a small mixing bowl and add the maple syrup and cinnamon. Mix them until well combined (the mixture should be slightly sticky). Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a small piece of parchment paper, gently press down on the cereal mixture, spreading it evenly across the bottom of the baking dish. Bake the crust for 7-9 minutes, or until it is slightly browned. Set aside.
  3. Meanwhile, add the egg whites to a large mixing bowl. Using a sturdy whisk, lightly beat them until they bubble very slightly. Still using the whisk, stir in the pumpkin, agave, and flour until well combined. Stir in the vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, and salt and continue mixing until well combined. Pour the filling over the baked crust. Using a rubber spatula, spread it into an even layer.
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out dry (a few crumbs are okay). Transfer the dish to a wire cooking rack, allowing it to cool to room temperature. Carefully cut 32 pumpkin “bites” (3 cuts along the width of the pan, 7 cuts along the length, creating 4x8 bites).
  5. Just before serving, top each bite with 1 teaspoon whipped topping, if desired. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
What’s your favorite pumpkin flavored treat?
