NYFW: Behind the scenes at Whitney Eve

Yesterday held one of my all time favourite style icon's Fashion Show: Whitney Eve. The show was a great success and saw audiences applauding greatly after its presence....
So to mark the occasion, I have put together some behind the scene shots (from a secret inside source).
Enjoy!

Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Fall 2012 collections have kicked off with some serious fall style.  This may be our chic-est fall to date!  Already spotted are fabulous coats, skinny crops, midi skirts, fur, colourblocking (yes again), neons (yes again), and my personal favourite fall booties.

Day 2: Red, White, and Clash

It’s time for reds’ evil sister to come out to play.  Blood red.  Sounds sexy and dangerous right?  This deep version of red has been seen in almost every collection where there is colour and will be one of the top colour trends for fall 2012.

Spotted on the runways was fur in every imaginable way, “moto” style jackets, peacoats, body con (short for body conscious) dresses, skinny cropped pants, and lastly loads and loads of leather in all catagories.  Think: leather head to toe.  This Fall 2012 is going to be the season to go for it.

Day 4: Fall’s Must Haves

Very interestingly, neon has finally taken a step back from the limelight leaving way for some really rich but deep fall colours. The midi length skirts are still reigning supreme. Peacoats are the new “it” jacket and again more fur.
But trends do come and go, so here is a look at the three most solid trends that have been going strong since day one: http://www.typef.com/blog/typef-blog/day-4-learning-abcs/?utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_campaign=fwf2012

Day 5: Trends With Timeless Appeal

Donna Karen
Topping the overall and obvious trend lists are grey suits, double breasted jackets, pencil skirts, slim cropped pants, relaxed sporty leather pants and structured jacket after structured jacket.  I’ve also noticed the return of crocodile embossed leather at DKNY as well as ostrich leather at Marc Jacobs.

What trends from the first five days of NYFW are you a fan of?

New York Fashion Week: Makeup Spotlight

As you may already be aware, 'The Big Apple' is currently being bombarded with the presence of New York Fashion Week! Directly from the upholding event, models have since been seen to don the catwalk with ultra-feminine, red-carpet-ready-dresses of velvet, chantilly lace, chiffon and silk with cap sleeves, tiered skirts, high necks and beaded embroidery. Therefore meaning that new Fall collections hanker back to a glamourous world of modernity, transformation and prosperity. Opulent fabrics and brilliant colours in column gowns and dresses with drop waists and extended headlines have specifically adorned the spotlight and have been reflective on makeup: Jewel- Toned Shaddows. As colours varied from blue and green jewel tones to hues of red and yellow.

The pictures above, show just how gorgeous the display of jewel-toned shadows were at NYFW! Everything from peridot, emerald, sapphire, ruby, garnet and blue topaz were seen… and the best way to make this look really stand out is to apply the shadow using a wet brush. So check out this TBD video demonstrating exactly how to do that using an amethyst shade!

Will you be donning the 'Purple Reign' shade?

Style Guide Addict

Being a fellow companion of the Fashion Industry....I like to encourage people to read, read, readdd about style!
Style guides enable designers to pass on their experiences of the fierce and cultivating vagories of the Fashion industry, but also encourage people to learn and create their own persona based on the key facts presented in the guide....woow. And with prices from as little as £8.99; it is an essential must that won't break the bank either... and is sure to brighten up any bookcase!
They not only inform, but also dish out on all of the ins and outs of a fashion victim's day to day life — personal stories, beauty tips, fitness secrets, etc. Meaning that there’s something in it for everyone!

Below, I have carefully selected some of my favourite style guides to help vamp up those book stands:

1.  Lauren Conrad, Style, £14.99

2. Whitney Port, True Whit, £8.99

3. Gok Wan, Work Your Wardrobe, £14.99

4. Teen Vogue Handbook Style Guide, £19.99

5. Dannii Minogue, My Style, £14.99

Will you be cluttering those shelves with Style Guides? Which one do you swear by?!

Cupid's Corner: Brownie Heart Cupcakes

This recipe is a delicious sweet that's perfect for Valentine’s Day and brought to you by love....enjoy and happy cooking!

brownie heart cupcakes

Transform chocolate brownies into decadent cupcakes for a Valentine's Day sweet certain to induce a smile. They're perfect for an office party for 20 or a quiet dinner for two.

Makes 24

Ingredients
  • Vegetable oil, cooking spray
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 3 sticks unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 12 ounces unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • Basic Buttercream
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line standard muffin tins with paper liners. Coat an 8-inch square cake pan with cooking spray, line bottom with parchment, then spray parchment.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Place butter and chocolate in a heatproof mixer bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring until chocolate melts.
  3. Attach bowl to mixer, add sugar, and whisk on medium-high speed until smooth, about 3 minutes. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, then vanilla. Reduce speed to low, and add flour mixture.
  4. Divide batter among muffin cups, filling each 2/3 full. Spread remaining batter in square pan. Bake until set but still soft, about 18 minutes. Let cool in tins and pan on wire racks.
  5. Frost cupcakes with buttercream. Cut out 24 hearts from brownie in pan using a 1 1/2-inch heart-shaped cutter. Top each cupcake with a heart.
Don’t these sound divine? And they are pretty simple to make too!

Are you going to bake these up for your Valentine today?
